The Sporting Director of Bayern Munich, Max Eberl, has indicated that the club is determined to keep French defender Dayot Upamecano.

The centre-back, who is of Guinea-Bissau descent, is under contract with Bayern Munich but his deal will expire in the summer of 2026.

Although Bayern Munich have already attempted to tie down the defender with a new contract, the club has been unsuccessful so far.

As a result, the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing the defender.

In the last 48 hours, Africasoccer has reported that PSG have joined the race to sign Dayot Upamecano.

Amid the interest from these top European clubs, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has disclosed that the club is not surprised.

He insists that Bayern Munich want to keep Upamecano and will continue to engage his camp to tie him down to a new contract.

“I’m not surprised that many clubs are interested. We are interested in extending his contract. It’s taking a very long time; we’re trying to convince him of the Bayern project. We want to keep him,” Max Eberl said.
