Riyad Mahrez delivered a match-winning performance to propel Al Ahly Jeddah into the AFC Champions League quarter-finals with a commanding 2-0 victory over Al Rayyan.
The Algerian winger bagged a quickfire brace in the 77th and 83rd minutes, sealing his side’s dominance after their 3-1 win in the first leg in Qatar.
Speaking after the match, Mahrez highlighted the team’s ambition and the vital role of fan support. “We have shown a great mentality, and we have great public support. We want to achieve something great for the club this season,” he stated.
With the knockout rounds set to continue in April, Mahrez emphasized the importance of recovery before the next challenge. “There is still time to rest and hospitalization before the quarter-finals,” he noted.
