The head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has stressed that his team needs to improve before the next round of games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Despite a 2-1 win against the Black Stars of Ghana in the semi-final of the 2025 Unity Cup, the coach insists that there is more work to be done.
“Since I became a coach, we have had seven or eight training sessions. We have played three games, we have won two and drawn one. We need to improve, we need to work, the players need to know what I want, and I think we made a great first half against Ghana, but I think in the second half we were tired,” Coach Eric Chelle said in his post-match interview.
Meanwhile, Coach Eric Chelle has applauded his players for showing grit and resilience to secure the win against Ghana.
“I’m so proud of my players because they fought. It was difficult, but I think they deserved this victory,” the coach said.
Nigeria, after beating Ghana, will now prepare to take on Jamaica in the final of the 2025 Unity Cup.
The final is scheduled to kick off at 4 pm at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday, May 31.
