We may withdraw from Egyptian Premier League – Ismaily president Mohamed Raouf
Ismaily SC president Mohamed Raouf has warned that the club could withdraw from the Egyptian league if their complaints over refereeing decisions are not properly addressed, escalating tensions between the club and football authorities.
In an interview with Modern mti TV, Raouf expressed strong frustration over repeated officiating errors in recent league matches, claiming the club has been unfairly punished in key moments that have directly impacted results.
For him, Ismaily have dropped up to nine points over their last three matches due to disputed calls, including disallowed goals and denied penalty appeals.
However, the club has submitted an official protest to the Egyptian Football Association and the league authorities, accusing refereeing decisions of costing them valuable points in recent fixtures.
“The committee that manages Ismaily Club is always in continuous session until the response of the Football Association, the Referees Committee and the Clubs Association arrives.”
“We couldn’t stay silent about the matter any longer. Ismaily lost 9 points in the last 3 league matches due to refereeing injustice, as everyone witnessed. There were legitimate goals that were disallowed for the club and penalties that were not awarded.”
“Everything that is happening to Ismaily is an injustice, and its repetition makes us say that it is systematic, because it is the same mistakes and issues. There should have been an official protest that we submitted to the Football Association and the League of Clubs. I cannot accuse a specific person of what is happening to us, and I demand an investigation and to find out what is happening.”
“One of the most important requests we made was to listen to the referee’s conversation with the video technology in two matches against Ismailia Electricity and Border Guards, and this is an inherent right of the club.”
“If there is no reaction from the Football Association, Ismaily may withdraw from the league, but we will not preempt events or the expected reactions from the responsible authorities.”
He added: “There has been no contact with us since the statement we issued so far.”
“I don’t think that relegation was cancelled last season just for Ismaily’s sake. This season relegation will not be cancelled and four teams will be relegated. We are waiting for the reactions of the authorities, and after that we will arrange the steps we will take, which include withdrawing from this competition because we want justice”
