Pyramids FC’s sporting director, Hany Said, has disclosed that the club is relieved after finally winning the CAF Champions League title.
The Egyptian club clinched the 2024/25 CAF Champions League title on Sunday, June 1, after beating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the second leg of the final to secure a 3-2 aggregate win.
Speaking in a post-match interview after the triumph, Hany Said noted that the success has been achieved after several years of hard work.
“We have worked for several years to reach this point, and this is a blessing and grace from God. Winning the title places a greater responsibility on us, because you are now in a certain position, and we are required to achieve more. We will only celebrate the CAF Champions League title today because we do not have enough time to continue the celebrations,” Hany Said told Yallakora.
He continued, “It’s normal for our performance to gradually decline after winning any major tournament. The timing of the Zamalek match is extremely difficult, as we’ll be playing the Cup final in three days. But this is our destiny, and we’ll deal with it starting tomorrow, Monday.”
Pyramids will face Zamalek SC on Thursday in the finals of the Egypt Cup.
