Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong is optimistic about Nigeria’s chances in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after being drawn into Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The seasoned defender expressed his excitement about the draw, affirming that Nigeria has the quality and experience needed to contend for the championship.
“AFCON 2025 draw is now over, very exciting to see the groups. Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania. Three teams that needs to be respected,” Troost-Ekong told the Super Eagles media.
“I think we have the experience now on how to handle situation like this. There are no easy games again in Africa. That’s a common knowledge now.
”However, I believe we have what it takes to come out of this group and this time go all the way. We learnt so much last year from the AFCON in Abidjan.
“This time, we will be more ready and work hard throughout the year to make sure everyone is fit and ready.
“We are looking forward to playing under the new coach. Exciting year ahead , and I’m very happy with the AFCON draw.”
The Super Eagles will kick off their AFCON campaign against Tanzania on December 23 at the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Morocco.
They will face Tunisia four days later and conclude the group stage against Uganda on December 30 at the same venue.
