Raja Club Athletic coach Fadlu Davids has addressed the reasons behind his team’s first league loss of the campaign, following a narrow 1-0 defeat to CODM Meknes in Sunday’s Botola Pro 1 clash.
The setback interrupted Raja’s early momentum, but the Casablanca side remains firmly in contention for the title, sitting fourth in the standings—just one point behind leaders MAS Fes.
Over their last five league matches, Raja have recorded two wins, two draws, and the single loss, leaving Davids eager for greater consistency from his squad.
After the match, the South African tactician admitted that while his team created opportunities, inefficiency in front of goal proved decisive.
“We didn’t always make the right decisions in the final third,” he told El Botola. “A match like today should have been won by four clear goals. We created chances, but the ball just didn’t go into the net.”
Davids also pointed to ongoing inconsistency as a factor, noting recent dropped points against MAS and Touarga, even in challenging circumstances.
“Our problem is consistency in positive results. Today was a game we should have won,” he said. “When players reach their best levels, they will push to achieve victories.”
The coach emphasized that squad adjustments require patience, particularly as he looks to establish a settled starting lineup.
“Changes in the lineup need time to adapt. Once we find a stable XI, I’m confident the performances and results will improve thanks to the players’ desire and fighting spirit,” said the former Simba SC boss.
Raja CA will look to bounce back in their next league outing against US Yacoub El Mansour on Friday.
