Pyramids FC head coach Krunoslav Jurcic has expressed his excitement after guiding his side to win the CAF Champions League.
The Egyptian side recorded A 2-1 win in the return leg on Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium against Mamelodi Sundowns, following a 1-1 in the first leg in South Africa.
Pyramids secured a 3-2 aggregate victory, having drawn 1-1 in the first leg at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in South Africa last week on Saturday.
Speaking after the final in Cairo, the Croatian tactician Jurcic was overjoyed and paid tribute to the passionate Egyptian football fans for rallying behind his team.
“I don’t know what to say,” Jurcic said after the match, as quoted by Pan Africa Football.
“We achieved the accomplishment and were able to win the African Championship, and we deserved it.
“In the end, this championship is a reward for all of us and for the work we have done. There were many fans who came behind the team.
“I asked the Egyptian fans to support us, and I thank them for coming and for giving us the energy that helped us win. We were all together,” he added.
The historic win marked Pyramids’ first-ever CAF Champions League title since the club’s founding in 2018, making them the fourth Egyptian club to lift the prestigious trophy, joining the ranks of Al Ahly, Zamalek SC, and Ismaily SC.
