Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso is undoubtedly confidence his outfit will ease past Al Ahly to reach the CAF Champions League finals.
The South African giants has set up a crunch semifinal tie against the Egyptian powerhouse after edging out Esperance in the quarterfinals.
Sundowns overcame Esperance of Tunisia 1-0 on aggregate in the quarterfinals, while Al Ahly also defeated Al Hilal of Sudan 2-0 over two legs.
The first leg of the much-anticipated clash has been scheduled for April 19, where Sundowns will play host to Al Ahly in South Africa before traveling for the return clash in Egypt.
Speaking to Soccerladuma, Cardoso expressed optimism about his outfit securing qualification over Al Ahly.
“I lost the Champions League final to Al Ahly last season when I was coaching Esperance Sportive de Tunis, but I believe Sundowns can eliminate Al Ahly and beat them.”
“We have to perform strongly in both matches, focus on the details, and prepare in the best possible way.”
It is important to note that Al Ahly triumphed over Mamelodi Sundowns in the final of the Champions League last season. Whiles Sundowns eyes revenge, Al Ahly will be aiming to maintain their dominance over the South African club.
