The head coach of Al Ahly, José Ribeiro, has assured fans that he is working hard with his players to improve their performance.

The gaffer was only recently appointed by the Egyptian giants and is leading the team at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States of America.

After two games in Group A, Al Ahly are without a win, having drawn against Inter Miami and lost 2-0 to Palmeiras.

Speaking in his post-match interview after the defeat to the Brazilians on Thursday, Coach José Ribeiro explained the struggles of his team.

“The suspension of the Palmeiras match due to weather conditions affected the pace of play, and we needed to make four substitutions when the match resumed in an attempt to return to the level of play the team had shown before the stoppage,” Ribeiro explained.

The tactician is now focusing on improving his team before the next match against FC Porto.

“We didn’t have enough time to make a major change to the way we played due to the short period in which the staff took over, and we are trying as much as we can to improve our performance,” José Ribeiro said.

Al Ahly’s last group match against FC Porto will be played on Tuesday, June 21.
