The Confederation of African Football (Confederation of African Football) has firmly rejected claims that it plans to postpone the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (Africa Cup of Nations 2027).

CAF’s media director, Luxolo Sepe, dismissed the reports as unfounded, insisting that the continental body has taken no decision to delay the tournament, which is scheduled to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

“The news about postponing the Africa Cup of Nations is false,” Luxolo told Lila Kora.

The denial comes amid persistent reports in sections of the media suggesting that CAF is concerned about the hosts’ preparedness, particularly regarding infrastructure capable of supporting a 24-team tournament across 10 cities.

Some outlets have claimed that these challenges could force CAF to push the competition back by 12 months.

Speculation has also intensified following reports that South Africa and Botswana are open to a joint bid to host a future edition, fueling expectations in some quarters that the 2027 tournament could be deferred.

Despite CAF’s public stance, the matter is expected to feature prominently at a high-level CAF meeting scheduled for today, February 13, in Dar es Salaam, where officials will deliberate on a range of issues, with AFCON 2027 understood to be at the top of the agenda.
