RS Berkane head coach, Noine Chaabani, has emphasized the importance of recovering injured players ahead of their crucial CAF Confederation Cup final clash against Simba SC of Tanzania.
The Moroccan side will host Simba in the first leg of the final on Saturday, May 17, with the return fixture set for May 25.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Chaabani acknowledged the physical toll the season has taken on his squad, particularly as several key players continue to nurse injuries.
“We appreciate the difficulty of this stage as we approach the end of the season, in addition to the physical condition our players are experiencing due to fatigue, match pressure, and successive injuries.”
Chaabani dismissed the idea of using injuries as an excuse, highlighting the team’s resilience throughout the season.
“We’re not looking for excuses. We’ve signed up for a marathon and arduous season that has drained a lot of the team’s energy.
“Our goal is to recover the services of Reda Hajji, Santos, and Manout, so they’re ready for the Simba match.”
He stressed that every player’s contribution will be vital in the final: “We need the efforts of every player before the Confederation Cup final, and we will try to play the match in an ideal manner.”
RS Berkane has already secured the Moroccan league title this season and continues to compete in the Throne Cup, capping off what could be a historic campaign.
