Supporters of the Gabon Panthers are planning to file a complaint following Gabon’s defeat, which occurred on the green carpet in favor of Niger during the qualifiers for the 2014 Brazil World Cup. The issue revolves around Charlie Moussono, who had a nationality problem but still played in the match.
The supporters’ association is taking legal action to defend the team’s interests. In a press release, they stated, “Our complaint was declared admissible, and the entire file was transmitted to the Directorate General of Research (DGR) so that it could begin investigations on its side and that it hears who is right… Gabonese justice reinforces our convictions to seek the truth but also to cleanse the honor of our country soiled by this type of affair.”
The administrative cause of the issue lies in the fact that the technical staff had fielded defender Charlie Moussono, who originally hails from Cameroon but possesses Gabonese nationality. As a result, Gabon, which had initially drawn 0-0 with Mena on June 3 in the World Cup qualifiers, was later awarded a victory point to Niger due to this administrative discrepancy.
