Algeria aims to surpass its previous performances in the World Cup by reaching the second round in the upcoming 2014 edition. The president of the Algerian Football Federation, Mohamed Raouraoua, revealed that this objective was part of the program, and coach Vahid Halilhodzic’s contract includes a provision for progressing to the second round if the team qualifies for the World Cup in Brazil. Algeria has previously participated in the World Cup in 1982, 1986, and 2010. The draw for the group stage is scheduled for December 6, determining the team’s opponents in the tournament.
