Under contract with Watford until June 2023, Abdoulaye Doucouré has once again demonstrated his importance to the English club. The French-Malian midfielder featured in 35 Premier League matches this season, scoring five goals, and has established himself as a key figure in Watford’s midfield.
Despite his influence at Vicarage Road, Doucouré has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain. However, the midfielder has indicated a preference to remain in England. “I don’t dream of any particular club. Of course, PSG is one of the best in Europe, but I don’t have it in my head to go to PSG at all costs. I would like to stay in the Premier League; I think it’s the best league to express my qualities. After that, it depends on the offers, it depends on many things. I’m very open,” he told AFP.
Watford, aware of Doucouré’s value, are not willing to sell him cheaply. In January, the club reportedly set a €55 million price tag for his departure, signaling their intention to retain the midfielder unless a significant offer is made. With his combination of skill, versatility, and consistency, Doucouré remains central to Watford’s plans, while also attracting attention from top-tier clubs across Europe.
