English outfit Watford have taken a firm stance on the future of Moroccan international Othmane Maamma, choosing to retain the young forward until the end of the current season despite rising interest from elsewhere.
French outlet Foot Mercato reported that Ligue 1 sides Lille and Nantes had both shown interest in securing Maamma’s signature.
However, the Championship club’s hierarchy reportedly rejected all approaches, viewing the player as a central figure in Watford’s long-term project.
Meanwhile, Moroccan platform Win Win revealed that national team head coach Walid Regragui has added Maamma to his watchlist and is expected to attend several of the player’s upcoming matches.
The move is part of preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Maamma emerging as a potential option for the Atlas Lions.
The growing attention follows strong calls for his inclusion during the most recent Africa Cup of Nations, particularly after his outstanding performances saw him crowned Best Player at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
Those achievements have only heightened expectations around the youngster, whose development continues to be closely followed at both club and international level.
