Walid Salah El-Din stresses calm and unity as Al Ahly push forward
Walid Salah El-Din, Al-Ahly’s football director, chose his words carefully after his side’s narrow 1-0 win over Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egyptian Premier League.
For him, the victory meant more than three points. It was a message of calm and belief for a team under pressure from injuries and heavy expectations.
In a television interview, he admitted the result came at the right time. “Al-Ahly is the best team in Africa. All we need is calmness, and our performance will gradually improve from one match to the next,” he said.
Salah El-Din made it clear that contract matters remain the club’s responsibility. No player with a deal beyond one season will be allowed to demand changes. “Al Ahly alone decides to amend its players’ contracts in accordance with its vision and policy,” he stressed.
He also defended his players, noting that Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet and Marawan Attia had faced criticism from some fans. He urged supporters to stand behind the squad. On injuries, he confirmed Imam Ashour’s treatment plan and said Ahmed Mostafa Zizo should return to training in three days.
