The future of Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national team, continues to spark speculation as several clubs reportedly eye the possibility of bringing him on board should he step down from the Atlas Lions.
According to French outlet sports.fr, nearly three weeks after Morocco’s heart-wrenching loss in the Africa Cup of Nations final, uncertainty still surrounds Regragui’s next move.
The defeat came in dramatic fashion, with Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz missing a late penalty and Senegal’s Sadio Mane, currently at Al-Nassr, converting the decisive goal.
Foot Mercato recently reported that Regragui had resigned just months ahead of the 2026 World Cup—a timing that would coincide with the end of his contract.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation, however, quickly dismissed the claims, releasing a statement to refute the resignation reports.
Regragui’s situation remains unclear, particularly after a tournament in which he faced intense criticism from both local media and some fans.
Adding to the speculation, French journalist Marc Michinois, former editor at Goal France and Le Parisien, addressed rumors linking Regragui to the role of technical director at Olympique Marseille, replacing Roberto De Zerbi.
Michinois tweeted: “Despite Walid Regragui’s name reappearing in the news in recent hours, Olympique de Marseille is not showing any interest in him.”
