Walid Regragui linked with Ecuador coaching job after Morocco success

Former Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has reportedly emerged as a candidate to become Ecuador’s next national team coach following the departure of Sebastián Beccacece.

Reports from Ecuador claim the Moroccan tactician is among the names being considered, although no official approach has been confirmed by the Ecuadorian Football Federation.

Ecuador weighing coaching options

According to Ecuadorian journalist Roberto Bonafont, Regragui is on Ecuador’s shortlist to take charge of La Tri.

Bonafont, citing a trusted source, reported that the 49-year-old would be interested in taking up the role should the opportunity arise.

Despite the growing speculation, there has been no confirmation of formal talks between Regragui and Ecuador’s football authorities.

World Cup success enhanced reputation

Regragui established himself as one of Africa’s most highly regarded coaches after guiding Morocco to a historic fourth-place finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
