Wales head coach Craig Bellamy has highly praised newly appointed Ghana manager Carlos Queiroz ahead of their historic international friendly on June 2, 2026.

Speaking to reporters before the match at the Cardiff City Stadium, Bellamy expressed great admiration for the veteran manager.

“His record in coaching and the clubs he’s been at is impressive, and he has a wealth of knowledge,” Bellamy said, highlighting the former Real Madrid manager and Manchester United assistant’s extensive career.

The upcoming fixture marks a significant milestone, representing the first-ever senior men’s international meeting between Wales and Ghana.

It is also the first time the Welsh national team will host an African nation on home soil.

Bellamy emphasized that the encounter provides a unique tactical learning experience for his squad as they look ahead to their next UEFA Nations League campaign.

“To play a team from a different continent is great for us and for me also,” Bellamy stated. “Maybe there’s something new [in] how they play and a different type of profile of player to play against. It’s really important for us.”

The Black Stars are currently holding a training camp in Cardiff to prepare for the match.

Queiroz has named a strong 28-man squad, which features the return of high-profile players like Baba Rahman and Ernest Nuamah.

For Ghana, the friendly serves as critical preparation for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Group L campaign against Panama, England, and Croatia.
