Wail Gomaa denies reports of Soufiane Benjdida falling out with Al Ahly team-mates

Al Ahly football director Wail Gomaa has rejected reports that Moroccan striker Soufiane Benjdida is unhappy with his team-mates because they are not supporting him on the pitch.

Moroccan website Le Sport 360 reported that Benjdida was frustrated by what it described as a lack of co-operation from his fellow players.

But Gomaa told FilGoal.com: “Everything being reported in the Moroccan media about Soufiane Benjdida being angry because his team-mates are not co-operating with him on the pitch is untrue.”

He added: “This does not happen at Al Ahly. There is complete co-operation both on and off the pitch, especially with the new arrivals.”

Benjdida joined Al Ahly after finishing as the leading scorer in the Moroccan league last season, when he scored 20 goals for Maghreb Fes.

However, the Moroccan league’s top scorer has yet to find the net in the four league matches he has played for Al Ahly this season.

Al Ahly dropped points for the first time in the league campaign after drawing 1-1 with Al Mokawloon Al Arab in their fourth-round fixture at Al-Gabal Al-Akhdar Stadium.

The result moved Al Ahly on to 10 points, level with Zamalek, while Al Mokawloon Al Arab reached four points and sit 13th in the table.

The draw also allowed Pyramids to move clear at the top of the league with 12 points.
