The women’s national team, the Hawks, are intensifying their preparations ahead of the WAFU B Women’s Tournament, set to take place in the coming days in Abidjan, the Ivorian capital. The squad began their second training camp last weekend in anticipation of the regional competition.
Around thirty players, summoned by the technical staff, took part in the sessions held at the facilities of the Togolese Football Federation (FAT). The camp included rigorous testing, starting with the intermittent Yo-Yo Test to measure the athletes’ Maximum Aerobic Speed (VMA), followed by a 25×2 opposition drill to refine tactical cohesion and match fitness.
Eight national teams will compete in the tournament, including the host nation Ivory Coast, alongside Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, Senegal, Nigeria, Ghana, and Togo. The event is scheduled from May 8 to 18 in Abidjan, promising an intense display of women’s football at the regional level.
The official draw for the competition will take place on Tuesday, April 16, at the Jardin du Rail in Plateau, Abidjan, setting the stage for the groupings and match schedule for the eagerly awaited tournament.
