In a closely contested encounter, the decisive goal came in the second half, scored by Momodou Bojang, giving the Scorpions the edge needed to advance.
The win ensures that the defending champions maintain their bid to retain the title. With four points from two matches in the three-team group, Gambia has already claimed one of the top two positions, making their progression to the semi-finals certain. The Scorpions had opened the group stage with a 1-1 draw against Mali, demonstrating consistency and resilience in their campaign.
The final Group B match will see Liberia take on Mali on Saturday, which will determine the second team to advance alongside Gambia. Meanwhile, the Scorpions can focus on preparing for the knockout stage, confident in their ability to challenge for back-to-back titles in the tournament.
