Egypt’s women’s national team has been handed a challenging assignment at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after being drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria, Zambia and Malawi.
The draw for the tournament was conducted on Thursday, confirming Egypt’s placement in Group C for the competition, which will be staged in Morocco.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off next March and will mark a historic milestone, as 16 teams will participate for the first time since the inception of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, with matches running from March 17 to April 3.
The Confederation of African Football organised the draw ceremony on the sidelines of the ongoing 2025 Men’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The event was attended by several CAF officials and representatives of the qualified teams, including Amira Youssef, the technical director of the Egyptian women’s national team.
Hosts Morocco headline Group A, where they will compete against Algeria, Senegal and Kenya.
Group B features South Africa, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Tanzania, while Group C brings together heavyweights Nigeria and Zambia alongside Egypt and Malawi.
Group D completes the lineup with Ghana, Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde set to battle for progression.
