Wael Tlili: Tunisia midfielder joins JS Kairouan on free transfer from US Tataouine

Tunisia defensive midfielder Wael Tlili has joined JS Kairouan on a free transfer from US Tataouine. The 24-year-old has signed a deal running until 30 June 2027 with the Kairouan side.

Tlili, born in Agareb and right-footed, specialises in the holding midfield role and arrives after a season with Tataouine, whom he joined in September 2025. His move keeps him in Tunisian football and marks the latest step in a career spent entirely in domestic competitions.

The midfielder brings top-flight and cup experience, having featured in Ligue 1, the Tunisian Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup earlier in his career. Across those competitions he has accumulated minutes in league, domestic knockout and continental football, including appearances at CS Sfaxien and EO Sidi Bouzid before his most recent spell at Tataouine.

Tlili first broke into senior football at CS Sfaxien after progressing from their youth ranks in 2022, later moving to Tataouine in January 2023. Short spells without a club and at lower-division side AS Agareb followed, before Tataouine brought him back for the 2025–26 campaign.

By committing Tlili to a contract through to 2027, JS Kairouan have added a specialised defensive midfielder to their squad ahead of the new season.
