Wael Faraag: Egyptian veteran striker joins Inter City on free transfer

Egyptian centre-forward Wael Faraag has joined Inter City on a free transfer from Taiaran, signing a deal that runs until 30 June 2027. The 39-year-old, who plays primarily through the middle in attack and favours his right foot, makes the move after three seasons with Taiaran.

Faraag arrives with extensive experience in domestic competition, having made 138 Premier League appearances and scored 30 goals, as well as impressing in the Egypt Cup with six goals in 10 outings. His record of more than 7,000 league minutes underlines a long spell at the top level and gives Inter City a seasoned option at centre-forward.

The forward’s switch continues a career spent across a series of Egyptian clubs. Before Taiaran, he turned out for El Alameen and Beni Suef Club, and earlier represented El Raja and El Dakhlia following multiple moves between those sides. He had previously featured for Talaea El Gaish, Petrojet, Enppi SC and El Makasa, building a reputation as a reliable presence in the final third.

Faraag reached a peak estimated market value of €400,000 during his time with Enppi SC and El Makasa, reflecting his standing during the earlier stages of his career. His latest move to Inter City extends that career into another campaign, keeping him in Egyptian football for at least one more season.

The transfer, completed on 14 July 2026, sees Faraag formally registered as an Inter City player until the summer of 2027.
