After their 1-1 draw against AS Douanes in Lomé, the Egyptian club Wadi Degla is feeling confident ahead of the return match.
The team’s leadership recognizes the importance of maintaining a clean sheet in the return leg to secure qualification for the Confederations Cup round of 16.
Coach Hisham Zakaria particularly praises goalkeeper Essam El Hadary, a seasoned veteran at 41 years old, who provided crucial support in the first leg: “His experience is invaluable, especially in continental competitions. He played a significant role in Lomé, and we rely on him heavily for the upcoming match.”
Wadi Degla, based in Cairo, is relatively new to continental competitions, with this being their first appearance. The club made history in Egyptian football by earning promotion to the top division in the 2009/10 season, marking a remarkable ascent from the third division to the elite league in just one year.
