Despite his certainty about recruiting Wahbi Khazri this summer, the midfielder has officially announced that he will not be leaving Bastia. The possibility of his departure had been raised at the end of July.
In a tweet, Khazri stated, “I am announcing to you that I am staying in Bastia and I am determined to have a very big season.” This decision marks the end of one of the many transfer sagas of this window in French football. Khazri had also been in contact with Sassuolo in Italy.
The announcement solidifies Khazri’s commitment to Bastia for the upcoming season, dealing a blow to Lyon’s transfer plans.
