Vozinha: Cape Verde goalkeeper linked with surprise Colo-Colo move

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, currently without a club after leaving Portuguese side Chaves, has been linked with a move to Chilean giants Colo-Colo. The 40-year-old, born in Mindelo, is available as a free agent and is understood to be under consideration as an experienced option in goal for the Primera Division side.

Vozinha’s potential switch comes on the back of a prominent role at the 2026 World Cup, where he started all four of Cape Verde’s matches, playing every minute, conceding five goals and keeping two clean sheets. His recent international exposure and free-agent status are believed to make him a low-cost, short-term solution as Colo-Colo assess their goalkeeping options.

The veteran keeper, who stands at 1.89m and is right-footed, most recently saw his market value assessed at around €50,000, a figure that would align with a modest salary package rather than a transfer fee. Having left Chaves on 1 July 2026, he is free to negotiate and sign outside of the traditional transfer-fee framework.

Vozinha’s club career has taken him across several countries, including a successful spell with AEL Limassol in Cyprus, where he won the Cypriot Cup in 2018-19. That experience of competing in different environments, combined with his recent World Cup performances, is thought to appeal to Colo-Colo as they weigh up adding depth and leadership at the back.

For now, the Cape Verde international remains unattached, with discussions over a possible move to Colo-Colo yet to progress to an advanced stage.
