Vozinha: Cape Verde goalkeeper, currently a free agent, linked with Real Betis move

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, currently without a club after leaving Portuguese side Chaves, has been linked with a move to La Liga outfit Real Betis.

The 40-year-old is available as a free agent following the expiry of his deal at Chaves this summer, a situation that would allow Betis to strengthen their goalkeeping options without paying a transfer fee. His current market value is estimated at around 50,000, underlining the low-cost nature of any potential agreement.

Vozinha has just come off an eye-catching spell on the international stage, starting every match for Cape Verde at the 2026 World Cup. He played all available minutes for his country, keeping two clean sheets and conceding five goals across four games, form that is understood to have alerted clubs seeking experienced cover in goal.

Born in Mindelo and standing at 1.89m, Vozinha has built a long career in European football, including a successful spell at AEL Limassol in Cyprus, where he won the domestic cup in the 2018-19 season. Moves to Slovak side AS Trencin and then to Chaves in Portugal followed, both on free transfers, before he became unattached on 1 July 2026.

Any switch to Betis would mark his first experience in Spanish football and a significant late-career move after a series of stints across Europe. For now, Vozinha remains a free agent and is able to negotiate with interested clubs immediately.
