Volos FC complete signing of Moroccan defender Hamza Mendil on free transfer

Volos FC have o announced the signing of Moroccan left-back Hamza Mendil on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Aris Thessaloniki FC.

The 28-year-old defender joins the Greek Super League side after completing all formalities, including successful medical and physical examinations, before putting pen to paper on his new deal.

Volos FC confirmed that Mendil will immediately link up with the squad and is expected to begin training with the team from next Monday as preparations continue for the new season.

The move marks a new chapter in Mendil’s career after spending a season and a half with Aris Thessaloniki, where he established himself as a reliable option on the left side of defense. During his spell with the club, he made 26 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and three assists.

Mendil brings significant European experience to Volos FC, having played in several top leagues across the continent throughout his career. Before his time in Greece, he featured for Belgian side OH Leuven, German club Schalke 04, Turkish outfit Gaziantep FK, as well as French sides Dijon FCO and Lille OSC.

At international level, Mendil has represented the Morocco national football team on 20 occasions, further highlighting his experience at the highest level of international football.

Volos FC expressed satisfaction with the signing, welcoming the Moroccan international to the club and expressing confidence that his experience and defensive qualities will strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
