Vladimir Petkovic’s inaugural day in Algeria: contract signing and press conference

Following his recent appointment as the head coach of the Algerian national football team, Vladimir Petkovic has embarked on a busy schedule since his arrival in Algiers. The Swiss tactician, of Bosnian origin, touched down in the Algerian capital on Sunday, as confirmed by an official statement from the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).

The reception at Houari Boumediene airport marked the commencement of Petkovic’s journey with the Fennecs.

President of the Algerian Football Federation, Mr. Walid SADI, warmly greeted the esteemed coach upon his arrival around midnight.

The two dignitaries engaged in discussions in the airport lounge, setting the tone for a collaborative venture.

In a statement released by the FAF, it was highlighted, “The president of the Algerian Football Federation, Mr. Walid SADI, welcomed Mr. Vladimir PETKOVIC, the new national coach, upon his arrival at Houari Boumediene airport around midnight. The two men spoke in the airport lounge before Mr. PETKOVIC returned to his residence.”

As Petkovic assumes his role at the helm of Algerian football, his first official day on Monday promises significant milestones.

The schedule includes the formal signing of his coaching contract, a pivotal moment that cements his commitment to guiding the Fennecs towards future successes.

Moreover, football enthusiasts and the media will eagerly anticipate Petkovic’s debut press conference, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. GMT. The Nelson Mandela stadium in Baraki, Algiers, will set the stage for the coach’s first interaction with the Algerian press.

This event serves as an opportunity for Petkovic to share his vision, strategies, and aspirations for Algerian football under his leadership.
