Vinicius Junior transfer rumours dismissed as ‘false and damaging’ by agency

The agency representing Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has rejected reports linking him with a move to Arsenal, describing the claims as false, damaging and potentially defamatory.

Vinicius has been associated with a transfer to Arsenal after reportedly refusing the terms offered in talks over a new contract at Real Madrid. His current deal with the Spanish club runs until the summer of 2027.

Michael Yormark, president of Roc Nation Sports International, criticised the reports in an official statement.

“We cannot stand idly by while unprofessional and uninformed media outlets publish false and damaging information for the purpose of attracting attention,” he said.

“This is unacceptable, especially when it personally targets our players without any basis. It is upsetting and harmful, and it can amount to defamation.”

He added: “The media and journalists must take greater responsibility.”

The statement comes amid reports that negotiations over a contract extension for Vinicius at Real Madrid have stalled, attracting interest from Arsenal during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was asked about the club’s potential transfer activity but declined to comment specifically on Vinicius or any other player who is not part of his squad.

“We are working to improve and develop the team, and we expect movements in the coming weeks,” said Arteta.

“We want to become better, like the rest of the clubs, and the transfer market is very active.”

He added: “I do not want to comment on the possibility of signing Vinicius Junior or any other player who is not in my team.”

Reports have linked Arsenal with a move for the Real Madrid star, while the Premier League club have also been credited with an interest in signing Julian Alvarez during the current summer window.

Arsenal are preparing for the new season after winning the Premier League title and reaching the Champions League final last season, where they were beaten.

Their objective is to remain in contention for major honours, with Arteta indicating that further activity could take place before the transfer window closes.

Despite the speculation surrounding Vinicius, his immediate future remains unclear. The uncertainty is also linked to Real Madrid’s reported interest in signing Yan Diomande, the RB Leipzig winger, during this summer’s transfer market.

Vinicius remains under contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2027, but the lack of agreement over an extension has fuelled speculation about whether he will continue with the club beyond that point.

The agency’s intervention is the strongest public response so far to the reports connecting the Brazil international with Arsenal. However, neither the player nor Real Madrid has been reported as confirming that he is seeking a move, while Arteta has refused to offer any indication that Arsenal are pursuing the forward.
