Brazilian international of Cameroonian descent Vinicius Junior has reached out to La Liga President Javier Tebas, urging him to withdraw statements made about alleged piracy.
Tebas publicly accused the Real Madrid forward of illegally streaming the Champions League match between Liverpool and Real Madrid while in Spain.
This accusation followed Vinicius sharing an image on social media showing the game on his television.
Speaking at an anti-piracy conference in Buenos Aires, Tebas asserted that if the match occurred in Madrid, it constituted piracy.
He insisted that viewing Champions League content in Spain should be exclusively through Movistar Television.
Furthermore, he suggested that Vinicius might have employed a VPN or satellite dish to access the game unlawfully.
However, sources close to Vinicius have informed ESPN that he was utilizing an international plan from a Brazilian telecommunications provider, which permitted him to watch the match without facing geo-restrictions.
The player’s representatives have submitted documentation to La Liga, formally requesting that Tebas retract his allegations.
