Vincent Enyeama, the goalkeeper for Lille and recently crowned winner of the 2014 Marc-Vivien Foe Prize, remains optimistic about Nigeria’s chances in the upcoming World Cup in Brazil. In an interview with RFI/France24 on Monday, he expressed his belief in the team’s potential, drawing parallels with Ghana’s near-semifinal finish in the 2010 World Cup.
“Yes, everything is possible. We can win. Ghana was very close to the semi-finals [in 2010]. If we all do our best together, anything is possible,” Enyeama said.
Despite his outstanding performances in Ligue 1, Enyeama doesn’t consider himself the best goalkeeper in Africa. He expressed his gratitude for being named the best African player in Ligue 1, saying, “It’s a great honor, a lot of pride. I want to thank everyone, those who voted for me, those who supported me.”
Looking ahead, Enyeama has aspirations beyond football. He’s considering a career in acting, having already starred in several commercials. “Yes! I hope so! Maybe after football. Who knows? I’ve already shot quite a few commercials. So I know that being an actor is enjoyable. I want to be there,” he revealed.
