Vincent Aboubakar linked with surprise Bursaspor switch from Neftchi PFK

Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar is being linked with a move from Neftchi PFK to Turkish side Bursaspor, according to transfer rumours logged on 17 May 2026.

The 34-year-old centre-forward, currently on the books of Azerbaijani Premyer Liqa club Neftchi PFK, is the subject of speculation over a switch to the Turkish 2. Lig Kirmizi outfit. The probability of the deal remains officially listed as “?” and there is no confirmed transfer fee, but his current market value is stated at €700,000.

With no contract expiry date recorded for his time at Neftchi, there is also scope for talk that Aboubakar could become a free agent if his deal in Baku is allowed to run down or is terminated, adding another layer to the transfer noise around his future.

Aboubakar, born in Garoua on 22 January 1992 and now 34, has built a reputation as a powerful, right‑footed centre-forward at club and international level for Cameroon. Standing at 1.84m and wearing the number 45 shirt for Neftchi, he is listed primarily as an out‑and‑out attacking spearhead, a role Bursaspor are reported to be keen to strengthen as they seek firepower in Turkey’s third tier.

The Neftchi forward is currently valued at €700k on Transfermarkt, a figure that would represent a relatively low‑risk outlay for Bursaspor if a fee is required, or a notable coup if negotiations instead open the door for a free‑agent agreement. The move would also mark a shift from the Premyer Liqa to the 2. Lig Kirmizi, a change in competitive environment that could reshape the veteran’s late‑career trajectory.

No recent competitive match data has been formally attached to this latest round of rumours, and with the probability indicator still unclear, this remains firmly in the category of speculation. Even so, should the transfer materialise, it would offer Aboubakar a fresh platform in Turkey to extend his career and add a new chapter to a résumé that continues to draw interest across different leagues.
