Villarreal have reportedly intensified their interest in Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat as the Spanish side begin early preparations to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the summer transfer window.
The La Liga outfit are understood to be closely monitoring the Real Betis midfielder, with the club viewing his experience and tactical discipline as qualities that could significantly improve their squad depth.
According to reports in Spain, Villarreal’s recruitment team have identified Amrabat as a key target as they seek to add composure and defensive stability to their midfield.
The 28-year-old has built a reputation as a reliable ball winner and organiser in the centre of the pitch, attributes that have made him an attractive option for clubs searching for consistency in demanding competitions.
Amrabat is believed to be open to continuing his career in Spain, with sources suggesting he considers Villarreal’s long term sporting ambitions appealing. His familiarity with La Liga is also seen as an advantage, as it would likely allow him to adapt quickly should a transfer materialise.
Real Betis, however, could be forced into considering offers due to financial constraints.
The club are reportedly finding it difficult to maintain Amrabat’s substantial wages, which are estimated to be around five million euros per year.
