Villarreal secure deal for Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat
Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat is set to join Villarreal CF after deciding not to remain with Real Betis following his loan spell.
The midfielder has already agreed personal terms with Villarreal for next season, according to reports, bringing his short stay in Seville to a close.
Amrabat arrived at Betis on loan from Fenerbahçe SK and initially established himself as an influential presence in midfield.
His energetic displays and physical approach added balance and intensity to the side during the early months of his spell.
However, his role gradually diminished as the season progressed.
The Moroccan began to lose his guaranteed starting place, and Betis’ hierarchy ultimately chose not to pursue a permanent transfer.
Villarreal view the move as a calculated reinforcement.
The club are aiming to strengthen their midfield options with a player known for his competitive style and experience at international level.
Amrabat is expected to add physical strength, defensive awareness and tactical structure to the team’s setup.
The switch keeps the 27-year-old in La Liga, but offers a fresh challenge at Villarreal’s home ground, La Cerámica.
Barring any late developments, the midfielder will wear the yellow shirt next season, closing one chapter of his career and beginning another within Spanish football.
