Villarreal are pushing forward to seal the signing of Thomas Partey, viewing the Ghanaian midfielder as a key addition for their upcoming Champions League campaign.
The Spanish club remains committed to completing the deal despite Partey’s ongoing legal issues in the UK.
On August 5, Partey appeared in a London court where he faced five rape charges and one count of sexual assault. He was granted conditional bail, allowing him to travel and work while awaiting trial, which is set to resume at the Old Bailey on September 2.
Villarreal, however, have not stepped back. The Yellow Submarine already have a full agreement in place with the former Arsenal player. He is expected to sign a two-year deal with an option for a third.
Though some fans have voiced concern, the club is focused on Partey’s value on the pitch. Known for his physical presence and ball-winning ability, he would arrive on a free transfer following the end of his Arsenal contract.
The deal could be wrapped up in the coming days as Villarreal prepare their squad for Europe.
