Ghana international, Tariq Lamptey scored with a thumping low drive on Monday night as Brighton & Hove Albion held Aston Villa to a 2-2 draw in the English Premier League.
The match at Villa Park saw Brighton fight back from a deficit with impressive resilience, and Lamptey played a key role throughout the 90 minutes.
Lamptey, who started the match, was solid in both defensive and attacking duties. The game began with Brighton taking the lead in the 12th minute, as Simon Adingra capitalised on a loose ball in the box and slotted it past the goalkeeper into the right post.
Villa responded with a penalty from Ollie Watkins in the 37th minute, sending it past Brighton’s goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen into the bottom left corner to equalize.
In the second half, Aston Villa took the lead just after the break in the 47th minute, with Morgan Rogers scoring a fantastic goal from a lofted pass by Watkins.
However, Brighton wasn’t done yet. In the 82nd minute, Joao Pedro made a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Lamptey inside the box. The defender composed himself before firing a powerful shot into the bottom left corner, earning Brighton a well-deserved 2-2 draw.

With his goal, Lamptey has now scored twice for Brighton in the Premier League this season, adding to his one assist in seven appearances. His performance on Monday highlighted his importance to the team, both in defense and attack.
