Former Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins has predicted that Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, is poised to join an English Premier League club, potentially in the upcoming January transfer window.
The 25-year-old has been in outstanding form this season, netting eight goals and providing three assists in just nine appearances.
Martins expressed his surprise at Osimhen’s current situation, stating, I still don’t understand why and how Victor Osimhen ended up at Galatasaray.
He has to play in the Premier League, and he will do it in no time.
Highlighting the striker’s immense talent, Martins suggested that clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United should prioritize signing him.
Comparing Osimhen to prolific goal-scorers like Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Martins said, Osimhen brings exactly that, and Arsenal or Chelsea should give everything to sign him.
Osimhen’s release clause, which was €123m last summer, is expected to drop to €81m in January, making a move to England more attainable for top-flight clubs seeking a reliable striker.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray is reportedly in discussions to retain Osimhen beyond the season, reflecting his value to the Turkish club.
His market value is estimated at €75m, and he earns an annual salary of €10m at Galatasaray.
As speculation about his future intensifies, Osimhen will look to maintain his form in the Turkish league, with Galatasaray facing Bodrumspor in their upcoming match.
