Victor Osimhen: Barcelona eye move for Galatasaray and Nigeria striker
Victor Osimhen, the Nigeria centre-forward currently at Galatasaray, is being closely monitored by Barcelona as the La Liga club explore a high-profile move for the 27-year-old. The Catalan side are understood to be weighing up a major investment in the Super Lig star, with the chances of a deal this summer rated at 78%.
Osimhen is under contract with Galatasaray until 30 June 2029, meaning any agreement would require Barcelona to negotiate a sizeable fee. The Istanbul club paid around 75m to sign him from Napoli on 31 July 2025 following an initial loan spell, and his current market value is estimated at 75m.
The forward has been a prolific scorer in Turkey, hitting 41 league goals in 52 Super Lig appearances for Galatasaray and playing a central role in back-to-back title wins in 2024-25 and 2025-26. He finished as the Super Ligs top scorer in 2024-25, underlining his status as one of the divisions standout performers.
Osimhen arrived in Istanbul after a successful spell at Napoli, where he became Serie As top scorer with 26 goals in the 2022-23 season and helped deliver the Italian title that same campaign. His form in Italy was recognised when he was named African Footballer of the Year in 2023.
Barcelonas interest comes as they assess options to refresh their attack with a proven goalscorer who has experience in the Champions League, where Osimhen has scored 16 times in 27 appearances. For now, Galatasaray remain in a strong position, with the striker tied to a long-term deal and firmly established as a key figure in their attack.
