Former Nigeria international Victor Moses has officially signed with English Championship side Luton Town on a free transfer. The 33-year-old joins the club after leaving Russian Premier League team Spartak Moscow, where he had been playing since 2021 following a successful loan spell from Chelsea.
Luton Town confirmed the signing in a statement, highlighting the acquisition of the experienced player as a major boost for the club.
“We are excited to announce the signing of free agent Victor Moses on a permanent contract, subject to international clearance,” the club said.
The move brings Moses back to English football, where he has enjoyed a long and distinguished career.
Moses, who has played both as a right-back and winger, brings with him a wealth of experience from his time in the Premier League.
He had notable spells at top English clubs, including Chelsea, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Stoke City, and Liverpool.
His versatility and attacking prowess will be an asset to Luton Town as they aim to strengthen their squad for the ongoing season.
The Nigerian-born footballer began his professional career in England but made the decision to represent Nigeria at the senior international level.
Born in Kaduna, Moses moved to England as a child and represented the country’s youth teams before opting to play for Nigeria.
He made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2012, going on to earn 38 caps and scoring 12 goals during his international career.
Moses was a key player in Nigeria’s victorious 2013 Africa Cup of Nations campaign and also featured in two FIFA World Cups, representing the nation in both the 2014 and 2018 tournaments.
His retirement from international football in 2018 marked the end of a highly successful stint with the Super Eagles.
Known for his speed, dribbling, and ability to play multiple positions, Moses’ addition to Luton Town’s ranks is seen as a significant step for the club.
His experience on the international stage and at top European clubs will bring leadership and tactical flexibility to his new team.
Moses’ return to English football is anticipated to reignite his career after his recent stint in Russia.
Luton Town fans will be eager to see how the former Premier League star contributes as they look to make an impact in the Championship.
With the deal now finalized, pending international clearance, Moses is expected to join up with the Luton squad immediately as they prepare for the challenges ahead in the season.
The signing of the experienced winger comes as a positive development for the club as they continue to strengthen their roster in pursuit of promotion.
