Victor Moses, the Liverpool striker, was honored with the title of Best Footballer of the Year at the Nigeria Sports Awards. He outpaced his fellow teammates John Obi Mikel and Sunday Mba in the voting. Expressing his gratitude on Facebook, Moses mentioned, “Very honored to have been voted footballer of the year. It’s a dream come true to play for my country. Thank you all.”
In addition, John Mikel was named Male Athlete of the Year, while Blessing Okagbaré, a silver medalist in the long jump at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow, was awarded Female Athlete of the Year.
It’s worth noting that Victor Moses initially played in the youth teams of England, where he was born, before deciding to represent Nigeria in international competitions.
