Victor Boniface set for second farewell from Werder Bremen

Victor Boniface will be officially bid farewell by Werder Bremen before their final home game of the season against Borussia Dortmund, confirming a summer departure that had long been expected.

The club has now publicly announced the end of his loan spell.

His time in Bremen never really took off. The striker was repeatedly hampered by fitness issues and at one point suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined him for an extended period. Back then, he had already packed his bags and initially left the club. As his recovery went better than anticipated, all parties agreed to give the loan another try, hoping he could still make an impact.

However, Boniface has not managed a single appearance this season, and that is unlikely to change on the final matchday. He will therefore leave Werder for a second time once his loan expires.

The 25-year-old forward is set to return to his parent club Bayer Leverkusen, where his future will be reassessed after a frustrating, injury-plagued spell in Bremen.
