Victor Boniface has taken an important step in his recovery from a knee injury, with the striker confirming he is back on the training pitch after more than two months on the sidelines.

The Nigerian forward shared the update on X, showing he has resumed work on the grass as he continues his comeback.

Interestingly, Boniface is not training at loan club Werder Bremen but appears to be working at parent club Bayer Leverkusen’s facilities. His knee operation was carried out around five weeks ago, so this progress is a positive sign for both clubs and the player himself.

Despite this encouraging development, a return to competitive action before the end of the season is still viewed as unlikely. Reports in recent weeks had indicated that his campaign was effectively over, and the latest news does not significantly change that outlook.

For now, the focus remains on a careful rehabilitation process and ensuring Boniface can regain full fitness without rushing.

If everything continues to go well, his current work on the training ground could lay the foundation for a strong fresh start next season at the highest level.
