Nigerian forward, Victor Boniface has rejoined Bayer Leverkusen’s training sessions after sitting out their UEFA Champions League clash against Sparta Prague on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old was absent from training ahead of Leverkusen’s 2-0 victory over the Czech side but has now resumed preparations with his teammates.
Speaking after the win, Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso reassured fans about Boniface’s situation.
“He will train again tomorrow. I believe he is staying with us,” Alonso told reporters. “So I have to say that I am satisfied, I am happy. He is comfortable here, so I don’t believe that this is a big stress for him.”
Boniface has been a key figure for Leverkusen, scoring eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions this season.
Last term, he was the club’s top scorer in the Bundesliga, netting 14 times in 23 league games while playing a crucial role in their historic title-winning campaign.
Although he had reportedly agreed on a move to Al-Nassr, it appears he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen at least until the end of the current season.
