Victor Boniface linked with Hannover 96 move from Bayer Leverkusen

Nigeria’s Victor Boniface, currently at Bayer Leverkusen, has been linked with a move to Hannover 96 in the 2. Bundesliga.

The 25-year-old centre-forward returned to Leverkusen at the end of June after spending the 2025-26 season on loan at Werder Bremen. He remains under contract with the Bundesliga club until 30 June 2028.

Boniface has not featured for Leverkusen in the current campaign, with the club having played one DFB-Pokal match by 27 August. The reported interest from Hannover comes as the striker’s next career move remains uncertain following his return from Bremen.

He joined Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in July 2023 for €22.6m and was part of the side that won the German championship and German Cup in the 2023-24 season. He also collected the German Super Cup with the club the following campaign.

A move to Hannover would take Boniface from Germany’s top division to the second tier, although the rumour does not indicate that an agreement has been reached. His current market value is listed at €5m.

Boniface has previously won two Norwegian league titles with Bodø/Glimt and finished as the leading scorer in both the 2022-23 Champions League qualifying campaign and Europa League. For now, he remains a Leverkusen player, with his contract running through June 2028.
