VfR Mannheim add Morocco-Germany striker Anas Alaoui from Lecco
Morocco-Germany forward Anas Alaoui has joined VfR Mannheim from Italian club Lecco on a free transfer, giving the Regionalliga Sudwest side a new centre-forward option.
Alaoui, 20, was born in Mainz and stands 1.87m tall. The right-footed attacker arrives in Germany after a spell with Lecco, who compete in Serie C – A, and moves into the Regionalliga Sudwest with Mannheim.
The switch brings Alaoui back to German football after his time in Italy. He previously represented Eintracht Frankfurt’s under-17 side, finishing the 2022-23 campaign as the team’s second-highest scorer with 16 goals.
He has also won the Hessenliga during his career, adding senior-level success to his record before making the move to Mannheim. The available career record includes an appearance in the Coppa Serie C, while his latest recorded Coppa Italia Serie C campaign began without an appearance.
Alaoui’s arrival gives VfR Mannheim a forward whose main position is through the middle. His height and right-footed profile add further detail to the attacking options now available to the German club, although no contract expiry date has been announced.
Mannheim compete in the Regionalliga Sudwest, while Alaoui’s former side Lecco play in Serie C – A, making the transfer a move from Italy’s third tier to Germany’s fourth tier. The change also marks a return to the country of his birth for the dual-national forward.
Alaoui’s market value is listed at €150,000, but no fee was paid for his move to Mannheim. He completed the free transfer on 18 August 2026.
