German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg are on the verge of bolstering their defense with the signing of Ghana centre-back Jonas Adjetey from Swiss Super League club Basel.
The Wolves, who have conceded 42 goals this season, one of the highest tallies in the Bundesliga, have been actively seeking reinforcements at the back. After several targets declined moves, Wolfsburg reportedly identified Adjetey as their ideal solution.
According to Sky reporter Patrick Berger, an agreement has been reached for the 22-year-old Ghana international, with Wolfsburg set to pay around €10 million. A medical examination is still pending before the deal is officially completed.
Adjetey, who has earned seven caps for Ghana, is primarily a centre-back but can also operate as a full-back.
He is under contract with Basel until the summer of 2028 and is expected to bring defensive solidity and versatility to the Wolfsburg backline.
